Lyrics:
The lyrics
in this album are your typical high-school-rail-against-everything-that-comes-to-mind lyrics… at least, at the beginning
of the album, anyways. The lyrics aren't really anything spectacular in this
album, and it represents Bad Religion's in its earliest form.
Music:
Again, this
is their earliest album, and the music is somewhat lacking, unless your more into the hardcore scene. The guitar is sloppy, the bass is hard to make out, and the drums are generic beats. Nothing too spectacular.
Highlights:
There are
few highlights on this CD. The best track is, by far, one of the ones off of
their EP Back to the Known. The track, "Along the Way", is one of the
best they've ever done. Also quite good are the tracks "Yesterday" and "New Leaf",
both of which are also off of the Back to the Known EP.
Overall:
I can't say
I liked Bad Religion much, in terms of their earliest albums. I liked the stuff
off of Back to the Known, but the Bad Religion EP and their first LP, How Could Hell Be Any Worse? are
not my cup of tea. Still, "Along the Way" was an absolutely brilliant song, so
they get a few bonus points there.
